Rascals Program

About the Rascals Program

The Track Rascals program is a non-competitive, fun, and safe way for children aged 6 to 8 to learn the basics of track and field.

It follows Athletics Canada’s Run-Jump-Throw model, focusing on developing fundamental skills for track events while also providing a solid foundation for other sports and physical activities. The program plays a vital role in grassroots development by fostering a love for athletics at an early age and ensuring children have the skills and confidence to progress in the sport. By emphasizing the importance of physical literacy, Track Rascals helps create well-rounded athletes who can succeed in various sports.

The program will be led by experienced head coaches and assistant coaches who will guide the athletes through each session. The 10-week program runs each spring, with one hour of training per week.

The 2025 season kicks off April 4. Practices will be Fridays at Mercer Stadium from 4:30-5:30pm. The season ends on June 2 (note: last practice takes place on a Wednesday). Children born in 2017-2019 can participate in the program.
