About Us

Our club objective is to encourage good sportsmanship in the sport of track & field and to provide training and competition at all levels and age groups for the club members.

For Track and Field events we train indoors in the winter months atQueensborough Middle School, Burnaby South Secondary (Indoor Track) and Queen Elizabeth Elementary school gyms, and outdoors during the spring and summer at Mercer Stadium. Our practices range from 2 to 4 times per week depending on the season. Special camps and clinics are also available for members in the summer.

For Cross Country events, we start training in September through November, 2-3 times per week at Moody Park and Queen’s Park.

Home of  Champions

New West Spartans Track and Field is a non-profit club founded in 2007. We aim to help community members and athletes with healthy living and to attain higher personal achievement in the areas of athletics.  The city of New Westminster and BC Athletics have recognized our athletes, parents, and coaching staff with the Award of Excellence.

Our coaching staff are the recipients of the BC Athletics Excellence in Coaching Award and Coach of the Year.  Tatjana Mece for 2007 and Besnik Mece for 2010.  Besnik Mece was the Provincial Team Coach for Middle and Long Distance at the 2011 Canadian Junior Championships.

New Members are Welcome

New West Spartans Track & Field provides programs for rascals  from 6 to 8 years old, recreational, and competitive groups.  Our annual program runs from January to the end of November.  The practices are 2 – 5 times per week.   Camps and clinics are also available for members during the Spring and Summer.
